Who: It was me and a friend. I think my biggest inspiration for my travels are the movies I’ve seen and when I think of Tuscany I think of the bright sun, rolling hills, olive and grape trees. So when planning for my Florence trip I decided I wanted to see exactly that.

What: I went on a tour called Tuscany in a Day, it involved having lunch in a vineyard, seeing the leaning Tower and tours of San Gimignano and Siena. It cost EUR50 when I went last 2015 but in looking at their site today it apparently costs more.

I must say it felt surreal to see rolling hills while on our way to see the leaning tower of Pisa, even more so when we stopped for lunch in an actual vineyard and to be surrounded by barrels and barrels of wine.

The visit to Siena was just memorable, we were dropped off a few meters away from the actual location and had to walk to get there and I remember just before our tour guide started, I saw orange coloured roofs and cobblestone streets. We were left to wander on our own for an hour and while walking I, again, couldn’t help but be amazed by the structure and the reality that hundreds of years ago, actual people lived in the area. They were probably worrying about the same things as we do like how to earn money, where to eat, or even something as trivial as what to wear.

Where: Tuscany, Italy, Europe
