Inday Stories V1 E2

Another round of Inday Stories! This time it’s Austria in the skiing town (during winter), hiking town (during the summer) of Seefeld in Tirol. The place is surrounded by mountains, 3 major ones to be specific, all accessible by Rosshütte (aka lift). I learned about Seefeld from a travel agency forum and thought it was a good stop-over before heading to Germany so I added it to my itinerary, booked a hotel, and researched attractions.

From Venice I need to take a train to Innsbruck and another train to Seefeld, I’m assuming, because it was summer season instead of trains I rode in a bus for the last leg. I soon realised English is not their first language, although a few people can speak it, I struggled a bit to communicate. Now I love Seefeld, it’s a place I thought I’d only see in movies, the weather was great, sunny during the day and cool at night but I remember taking a walk and realising everyone seemed to be in their twilight years. I honestly didn’t see anyone close to my age.

After I settled in on my first day I set out to get on the funicular the next day. From my research and my limited communication skills I had to take a shuttle service to take me to the Rosshütte. I do this and for about 10 minutes, stayed seated enjoying the view (again, it looked like a  movie set, it was quaint, most of the houses were designed in typical Austrian fashion with flower beds hanging by the windowsill) when suddenly the bus stopped. The bus continued to stop for a few more minutes, the driver turned off the engine and got out while the rest of us (we were about 6 passengers) remained inside. My mind started getting paranoid at this point, is something wrong? Am I on the wrong bus? Did we forget anything? Will I get back to my inn?? My companion decided she’s had enough and went up to someone and asked what’s happening. It turned out we were only passing time so that the shuttle leaves on time! Honestly, if I was by myself, I’d end up sitting until sunset.

Lesson learned, it’s ok to get up and talk to someone for one’s peace of mind. Similarly, it’s also ok to chill and be like a boss if you don’t know what to do yet.
