Museum Hits – Paris

Every where you turn in this city you’ll be greeted by the richness of its history and culture. My recent trip to the National Museum made me reminisce of my trip where I visited about four museums in this city in a span of 7 days. It’s amazing to think what these treasures could tell, to know what they’ve seen, and how they came to be.

These tapestries displayed in the Cluny Museum are more than 10 ft in height, the most notable ones are The Lady and the Unicorn series which go on an tell a story of sexual awakening. This particular one is simply called ‘The Bath’tapestries

It’s common to go to the Louvre in search of the Mona Lisa but people might be surprised to see how small it is IRL. Opposite of Michelangelo’s obra maestra is this piece of work by Paolo Veronese. It’s m-a-s-s-i-v-e.

See how small the Mona Lisa is? I honestly thought it would be bigger than this (said no woman ever, LOL).

Another artwork that caught my attention – The Coronation of Napoleon by Jacques Louis David. The Pope traditionally crowns would-be Kings/Queens to signify that they still answer to him; Napoleon crowning Josephine is basically him saying that he doesn’t answer to the Church.

“Leonardo’s late painting of John the Baptist is often cited as support of the case that Leonardo was homosexual.” – from Wikipedia
Apparently this portrait was modelled after Da Vinci’s alleged lover, Salaì.

What an experience. xoxo.
