Have you ever wondered how things were like in the past? I often do, probably why I love going to Europe. I’ve always wanted to go to Vigan, see the old houses, cobblestone streets but to be honest it’s just so far. So over the weekend I went to Taal in what is now known as Heritage Town.
I am a proud Batangueña, I spent 3 of my formative years there and during summers I would spend time with my grandparents. I went with Mama on this trip and I must say it was a pretty good outing for us, we were able to spend time together and we were able to talk about a lot of things. These are the moments I will treasure for life.
We stayed at this lovely bed and breakfast called Paradores Del Castillo and our accommodation was actually pretty cheap. For a big enough sized room and a bed good for two I only paid Php2,500 with breakfast! The downside? The toilet is outside of the room, like a few meters away.
From the main building you walk across a veranda, down two flights of stairs, and walk across the lawn to get to the toilet. Needless to say I did not have midnight pee breaks
Did I mention breakfast is included? There were a handful of choices but reviews mention longganisa as an absolute must try and because we won’t get breakfast ’til the following day I ordered tapa for late lunch first.
Tapa was really good, beef was tender and it wasn’t too salty but savoury enough to satisfy your taste.
Longga day! It tasted like Vigan longganisa but only with a hint of garlic. Not bad at all.
Gas and toll fees were less than Php1k and to it our extra meals during our stay which were about Php900-all in all Php4,400. Not bad at all for a weekend trip and some mother-daughter bonding time.
