To Do: Rick Steves’ Tours

I found out about Rick Steves’ Tours while searching online for a good tour package, they aren’t exactly known for their party itineraries  like, say, Contiki which was what I was looking for and I found this post helpful in making that decision.

So about the tour, budget played a BIG role in choosing the right package and the Best of Paris in 7 Days fit right in my budget and at that time it cost me $1,877.62 (I got a $100 early-bird discount). Looking back I know I could do so much more with that money but I want to chalk it up to experience so no regrets. What’s included?

  • Full time tour guide, she will meet up with you at the hotel, go with you to all of the tours, and in a nutshell, someone to hold your hand if you need it
  • Transportation, tours, and admissions to 16 tourist attractions (like the Louvre museum but excluding Eiffel Tower, I had to get that separately). Includes tips to guides and drivers.
  • 6 nights accommodation
  • All breakfasts and half of dinners (I liked my last dinner at Pasco the most)
  • Free guidebooks! Yes, books! They shipped it all the way to Manila! Full disclosure, they had to send it twice. First time they sent it they got lost (no surprise there tbh) and they sent it again at no extra charge. Maps, money belt (I didn’t use it in this trip but it’s really useful), earplugs, etc.

Was it worth it? For a first timer? Yes. Would I book with them again? Probably not and it’s not because they weren’t good it’s just that I now feel more confident when travelling and I really REALLY want to make the most of my trip, budget wise.
