Why San Francisco?
When I think of SFO I’m reminded of Victorian Houses – of Full House (TV show in the 80’s or was it 90’s, not the Netflix version) – of my childhood. Nothing triggered my wanting to see this city I just know this is one of the cities I want to visit in North America (the other two being NY and Seattle). Mahirap lang to go around US unlike in Europe, in general but if you stay in the city centre (like SFO) transportation isn’t so bad. Uso nga lang tipping LOL.
How did you get here?
From LAX I flew via Virgin Air while my outbound flight was via JetBlue. I must say the return flight was far more memorable but not in a good way. You’d think when you hear “San Francisco” it will be warm and sunny, pretty much how you think the rest of California but not during this time of year (first week of March); it was raining, windy, and chilly. So on my return trip I was supposed to fly out of SFO Airport but because of the weather my flight was moved to Oakland which was a bus and train ride away. I did get a $100 flight voucher but seeing that I don’t plan on going back within 365 days, it was moot point (it was transferrable though).
How much did that cost you?
Flying to SFO was USD67.10 same as my flight to Long Beach.
Where did you stay?
San Francisco is not a cheap place to stay in! Good thing the city has tons of motor hotels, not like our motels but customers who bring their cars and park them at the ground area. I stayed in Coventry Motor Inn where I slept in, by far, the most comfortable bed ever.
How many nights did you stay?
I only stayed for 2 nights and I wish the weather could’ve been more cooperative. I still got to go around, eat clam chowder (yey, authentic!), get on the tram, go to Ghirardelli (but I didn’t to see the seals) so in spite of the weather I think I managed to make the most out of it.
How much was your accommodation?
USD98 per night, taxes not included. Yeah, it was expensive.
What did you eat?
Breakfast was not included boo-hoo. I mostly had brunch at burger joints, clam chowder, dinner with a friend at Ferry Building Marketplace, and no trip will be complete without a stop at Ghirardelli.

What did you do here?
I really wish I could’ve done a lot more but I am a girl from the tropics and cold weather does not bode well with me. I went to see San Francisco bridge which I expected to be longer, visit Alcatraz, rode the tram (where I nearly froze my ass off).

What’s the one thing you recommend/most memorable moment in this place?
Alcatraz trip just because it gives a glimpse of the past and how people lived in prison.
