Driving outside the country has always been on my bucket list, driving in Tuscany is an even bigger bucket list. I currently drive an automatic but for almost 10 years I have been driving gear shift.
So on my 2nd trip to Florence I made sure I visited the beautiful region of Tuscany, this time I went on a tour that lets you drive in a Fiat while seeing the countryside! I get to the place, hand in my credit card details, saw the Fiat car and test drove around the parking area (along with a driver). I managed to get moving but I struggled, I couldn’t reach the pedals enough and eventually had to get a driver (I don’t feel that bad, tbh).

On we went, the weather wasn’t the best and it was cloudy and rainy but I’ve long realised that when you travel even the best laid plans can be thwarted and it doesn’t have to be a bad thing, it shouldn’t ruin your trip at all. Anyhoot, we drove along the hills of Chianti and had lunch and wine tasting at a lovely vineyard before heading back to the city.
The entire tour was for 3 persons and was worth EUR250, our supposed 3rd companion didn’t make it but she still paid for her share so it came down to about EUR83. Also, the rate for getting your own driver is different from not having one.
