Who:
Me and mudra. I can’t take her to Spain so I’ll take her to the next best thing in Luzon.
What:
My goodness, I’ll start by saying I’m not a fan of loooong travel especially if I’m the driver but since I got my matic it has been easier. I drove to Las Casas in Bataan which took 3hrs give or take a few hours because we stopped for lunch and got lost for a bit.
Las Casas preserves old and historic houses from the Philippines by moving forgotten, abandoned, and derelict houses to their property in Bataan, and from here they re-construct and refurbish them to their former glory. While I’m glad someone is taking care of them I’m not so sure I feel the same that they were uprooted from their original locations and transplanted to another area, however it’s also not lost on me that some of these houses have been left to rot by the original owners.
Our accommodation cost almost Php7k, breakfast included while dinner for 2 cost Php2k (give or take). The room was really nice, we stayed at ground level and it had the original wooden beams for our ceiling, the toilet had a tub (not that we used it) and a separate shower area which means it was pretty big, toiletries for 2 included. The downside? Reaaaally weak internet, no phone line, and no soundproofing which meant I heard people from upstairs as they walked around. The weather was pretty bad too, we went in July and it was raining most of the time, the few hours when it didn’t rain I managed to take pretty good photos. Would I go again? Probably not.
Where: Bagac, Bataan
