Spain – Abbey of Montserrat

I first read about the place in school and though the details escape me now I’m pretty sure it has a connection to our patron saint, St. Benedict. When I plan for trips I don’t always have a destination in mind and this just happens to be in Barcelona and had a name recall.

I booked our tickets in advance and it cost us EUR43.20 per pax. A bus picked us up at Plaza Catalunya, dropped us off a station to get to Montserrat, and for our return trip the bus was waiting for us at the Abbey and we didn’t have to take a train anymore. We had a tour guide that ushered us in, gave bits of info about the place (tbh I don’t remember most of them), and afterwards we were left to ourselves to wander around. The cost covered just the trip so we didn’t get to see the museum anymore. The place offered the most amazing views I’ve seen in my lifetime, from the mountains to river gorges, and though one might feel crowded in some spots a quick walk away would give you peace and quiet.

Walk towards the bus parking and you get to see this view and there’s not a lot of people around ❤
