Iloilo – Gigantes Islands

I have a fear of drowning, hence, I never fully learned how to swim but it’s on my bucket list. I feel like I kinda know how to and if push comes to shove I’d be able to swim (or float at the very least). Needless to say, whenever I go to the beach I mostly just swim where my toes can touch the seabed and my head above water or sit by the shore and read (or sleep).

Last weekend I went with Ai on her trip to Gigantes Islands, we met up in Roxas I flew via CebuPac while they flew in Kalibo then took a van. First night we spent in Roxas at Urban Hotel and there wasn’t much to do really coz our accommodation was far from the city proper but it was close enough to the van terminal which we had to go to the following early morning. Mej magulo lang yung instructions to get to the port from the terminal, I had thought we take one van which will bring us straight to the port but we were dropped off at an intersection and from there took a trike. Mabilis lang naman yung travel to think I get easily bored (as in “are we there yet?” levels).

At the port we took a short boat ride to Gigantes, stopped by the infamous island synonymous to the place, then a sandbar, and then the island itself. The experience was similar to El Nido’s island hopping pero the islands weren’t that jaw dropping, sapat lang. The best part of the trip was going to Tanque (which was a lagoon surrounded by rock formations), I had the most fun, I swam my heart out (with life vest on in some parts). I took the most amazing photos in that lagoon, muntik lang namin hindi mapuntahan on the first day kasi maalon so we went the 2nd day.

*Note: all photos were taken using my phone’s cam and looking at them now I wonder if I would’ve gotten better shots using my cam (-_-)

I had migraine the first 2 days and wasn’t planning on climbing buti na lang I did coz otherwise I would’ve missed this iconic view
Ai and Ryan…also, proof na basta mahanginan, borlogs LOL
Meals during the 2 day tour were paid for (except breakfast on the 1st day and dinner on the last day). Thoughts: scallops for liiife and the crab for lunch on the 2nd day were super swabe. PSS, new found friends.
Love love love.
It’s not obvious in this photo but I had to climb to get that shot. I hate heights.
And when your kuya tour guide asks you to stand, you stand! Kebs sa fear of heights!
So that’s how I look like when I’m scared AND trying to smile…

And right before we left we went on an easy side trip to Panay Church where it had the 2nd oldest bell in the Philippines (if I’m not mistaken).
Pa-eyehole shot ni kuya caretaker. Infer, maganda kinalabasan.
View from the top of the bell tower, 6 flights of stairs, about 100+ steps! Kapoy!
