Seville – Alcázar

“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only a page.”

I first read about Alcázar after reading behind the scenes articles of Game of Thrones, it’s supposedly the location of Dorne, the residence of House Martell and as I was making my itinerary I knew I had to include it. Alcázar is found in Seville, Spain about 900kms from Barcelona, Spain which was were we came from and for the price of about EUR57 we got there in an hour and a half. Side note: sometimes I compare not only the price when planning my transportation but also the efficiency, if it it’ll get me to my next destination faster but pay a bit more I usually go for it.

A magnificent marriage of Christian and Mudéjar architecture, Seville’s Unesco-listed palace complex is a breathtaking spectacle. The site, which was originally developed as a fort in 913, has been revamped many times over the 11 centuries of its existence, most spectacularly in the 14th century when King Pedro added the sumptuous Palacio de Don Pedro…” – Lonely Planet

I book tickets in advance and online not only to reserve them on time but also to include it in my visa application. I think it helps strengthen your request if you provide as many proof as possible. I got us general tour tickets at EUR10.50 a pop and just like Alhambra we had to be there at a certain time (I chose 3pm, we arrived in Seville at 11am, had a 2 night stay in Hotel Alcántara). I meant to visit Ronda on my 2nd day but ended up staying in Seville instead.

Aside from visiting Alcázar I biked to Plaza de España (where I saw a free Flamenco dance), passed by Seville Cathedral, went to Basilica de la Macarena, saw Triana (I didn’t cross the bridge because I was sooo tired walking) went I went by Puente de Isabel II, walked by Plaza de Toros de la Maestranza (didn’t get to see a show BUT they let people in for a fee but being the cheapskate that I am, I didn’t want to spend), found a fave spot to eat called El Pinton, and went to Mercado Lonja del Barranco to supposedly eat (didn’t find anything good).

Sometimes talaga it’s all about timing. When I got to the baths (called Maria de Padilla Bathrooms) it was empty, literally a few secs later people started trickling in.

This was probably one of my best shots taken in Seville. Taken as I was about to exit Alcázar.

Another shot of Puente de Isabel II, may walkway sya sa baba like the one in Castel Sant’Angelo in Rome. And yes, lovers lane sya LOL.
