suman chronicles

I’ve been meaning to collect suman photos for the longest time but didn’t know how to start, guess there’s no better time than now 🙂

Alangilan_Suman
Alangilan, Batangas, Dec 2018 – pasalubong ni Mama. I grew up eating suman for breakfast and every time I eat it I’m brought back to that time. This is sumang lapad, feeling ko mas lapad sya nung kabataan ko but I guess most things appear to be bigger when we’re younger. May mas masarap dito, sumang haba, whitish in color and a bit sweet although I always ate it with sugar 🙂
Baler, Aurora, Aug 2018 – a bit sweet, you can eat it on its own
Dumaguete, Jan 2011 – this isn’t actually suman but it IS made out of glutinous rice, it’s called budbud. Typically eaten during breakfast it is usually drizzled or dipped in hot tsokolate, whichever floats your boat. Next time I visit I’ll be sure to try their suman.
