I figured I won’t always have a travel destination to write about so when I saw a 30 day writing challenge on Pinterest I thought I’d give it a go. I’m not the most consistent so to be able to write for the next 30 days is challenge enough.
First day challenge: list 10 things that make you really happy.
1. Friends. I only have small circle of close friends, some of them I’ve known since kinder and I know if I needed anything I’d be able to count on them.
2. Travel. I actully started traveling late, I remember having a US visa when I was younger but never got to use it. I also enjoy traveling solo and while some people find it odd, I find it life-changing.
3. Family. I’ve always had an interesting relationship with my parents. What’s that saying? Can’t live with them, can’t live without them. My brother is a different story. I wish I was nicer to him when we were kids, an 8yr gap probably didn’t help?
4. Sunsets. I can’t get enough of them. I’m lucky I get to have a good view from where I live. I’ve always said years from now new buildings will crop up and my view will be obstructed, until then I get to appreciate it each day.
5. Taking photos. The first time I thought to myself I could take a good photo was in high school. We went on a school trip to Corregidor and while on a tramvia I took a photo of an abandoned barracks. There was a photo competition after but I was too shy submit mine.
6. Baking. Especially if I get it right LOL. I like it better than cooking coz it’s more precise and I find myself zoning out when preparing the ingredients and putting them all together.
7. Books! This should probably be higher on the list, I guess this makes it random LOL. I’ve loved them since grade school, I think grade 6. I remember spending time at the library, sitting on the floor next to the fiction books and just reading my heart out. I also remember sniffing the pages of books and thinking “nothing else beats this scent.”
8. Movies. As I write this I’m watching a movie from my newly bought projector haha! I enjoy going to the cinemas but I get so annoyed by noisy moviegoers I end up getting distracted and not enjoying the film.
At this point I’m already struggling to complete my list! Which made me realize that for 2018 I’ll figure out more things that make me happy.
9. I really like making people laugh, even if at times out of my own expense. I want to say I’ve got a great sense of humor but I don’t want to toot my own horn and would rather have other people say it. It goes without saying that I love laughing, laughing my heart out, laughing out loud. If you look at my friends and the people I surround myself with you’d know I gravitate towards people with great sense of humor.
10. Writing. I don’t think I’m a great writer, I sometimes find my thoughts all over the place, my grammar isn’t the best, but when I get to do it right it gives me a sense of accomplishment.
There, 10 things that make me happy! Whew!
